i am in need of a freeware program that will allow me to open and edit MDB files. Cool

i don't have access and the program i have uses mdb files so i need to find something that will open them so i can tweak the program my way.
Sad
does anyone have any idea of what program will allow me to do that and still be freeware. :hmm:

Nope you've got to pay the piper. BUT you might use OO and recreate your database. But you'll have to recreate your data as well.

thanks gary66 but i have oo. and tried that first too. did not work.

i don't want to use access so i don't want to pay for a program that will only be used three or four times to edit a database that is used by another none ms program. i just can not see the sense in paying for things that are not going to be used that often or any more then a couple times. there sould be a way to make edits to the mdb files for free.?

the program i am trying to make the tweaks on is media monkey.
and it has some tweaks that need to be done to the database it uses that keeps the media playlists set up the way you want them.

it can use vbs or javascript but they can not do certian tweaks.
so i am in need of opening the database to make the change i want.

maybe there is a freeware program that will convert the mdb to something i can use in open office? and then convert back to mdb from open office's format?

Hello,

Have you tried any of the following programs:

Alex Nolan's MDB Viewer Plus
Jerry Fugini's MDB Data Browser and Editor
White Town Software's CDBF - DBF Viewer and Editor

Or perhaps asking someone with Microsoft Access if they could make the changes for you to the file?

Regards,

Here's OO instructions for converting MDB files
http://72.14.203.104/search?q=cache:GH3dko...&client=firefox

If that doesn't work, here is a free viewer to see the files
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details...&DisplayLang=en
and if that's not your cup of tea, here is trialware $20 converter
http://72.14.203.104/search?q=cache:Ouf5-O...&client=firefox

i got the mdb viewer plus that was mentioned.

it worked it opened the mdb file and let me edit it.

but the code did not do what the other person that
made the code for me thought it would do? :hmm:

If you need someone to convert the .mdb file to a common format such as comma delimited, just PM me.

thanks for the offer but i only wanted to tweak the program that uses the mdb file this one time.

and that mdbviewer plus did the job. it also will export to cvs text which is able to be seen by oo. :w00t:
