| I managed to order mine this morning 11am UK time.
I'm lucky, in a way, I have a friend in Arkansas who lets me use her address for any free offers like this one from Microsoft but who's going to turn down a freebie from MS like that!!
NOT ME!!!

I just received an email from Microsoft --
"Thank you for your interest in the Mystery Solved Windows® licensing promotion. We've received your request for more information to help clarify Microsoft® Windows Desktop Licensing pre-loaded on the USB drive. Unfortunately, this Mystery Solved promotion was available in the U.S. only and while supplies last. Supply is depleted at this time, so we encourage you to please utilize the online alternative today.
Simply download* the Windows Desktop Licensing reference files directly at:
www.microsoft.com/mysterysolved/corp " |

I was looking for this thread yesterday to see if anyone had gotten their drive yet.
Has anyone? |

I probably would have gotten the same email if I had given them a real address.
That's the sleaziest PR I've ever seen. Make millions of people wait 2 1/2 months and tell them they aren't getting their $10 trinkets.
What's the problem, MS? Run out of money? |

| I go to quite a few forums and all I'm seeing is everyone got an email yet no one has received a USB drive. If anyone got a drive, or sees a post that someone got it, please post. I know microshaft is getting some nasty replies from people. Based on how many people asked for the CD of windows updates in the past, they shouldn't have been clueless that people would want a free USB drive! |

Hello,
As I understand it, the promotion was geared towards businesses and system builders (e.g., those who make their living selling computers pre-loaded with legal installations of Microsoft's operating systems) and was intended to help educate them about how Microsoft licensed its Windows XP operating system. Unfortunately, they were likely swamped with responses when word about the promotion got out and as a result had to cut the promotion short when they ran out of USB solid-state flash disks.
I guess we will all just have to wait for another promotion for a free 16MB USB solid-state flash disk to appear and then hope to response before the vendor runs out of them.
Regards,

I requested one of these USB drives about 2 months ago and last week got an emaill from Microsoft stating that there are no more usb drives available. They offered to sell me a CD with the junk that was on the thumb drive !
Happy waiting!

Not me, I will write so many letters to Microshaft they will have wished they never heard of me. And here I am BETA testing two of their products for nothing. If a company makes an offer an fails to live up to it, it is a crime. If they ran out, tough-buy some more of them. |

Gary ever get any response from them?
I finally got told LAST week that they had run out. It had been over-subscribed ... I had to email them to remind them as I got only one email thanking me for my order ... then another asking me if I still wanted it and that was the 6th April ... they'd run out then
I don't think they were expecting the amount of complaints they got. I haven't finished complaining yet!!
DID ANYONE ever GET one
It would be internesting to see just how many on this forum did actually recieve one |
