On a Delta flight recently, I was offered the opportunity to try (for free) the new WiFi service they are offering on selected flights.
I have to say, it worked much better than I expected. It was not as fast as my high speed connection at home, but was very usable, and was much faster than in many hotels I have stayed at.
I was even able to exchange a couple messages with friends on the ground during the flight, much to their amazement.
The cost, if I recall correctly, would have been $9.00 for the entire flight. A bit steep, depending on the length of the flight, but could be great if the flight is very long and boring.
