I downloaded another update for Firefox just this morning. (2.0.0.8 )
The update is 5.7 meg's and can be downloaded from here, if you don't already have Firefox installed.
http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/
Doing the update from within an existing version of Firefox is much faster. You get only the updated files and not the entire program.
Happy Browsing!

| Didn't notice the update occurring until the popup box asked to shutdown Firefox.
Must have been a very small update.

The update itself was probably small, by some comparison.
But, the entire program was not so small.
I need the whole program because I carry it with me to share with my customers who don't already have Firefox.
I think I mentioned that it was 5.7 meg. That took a while on my dial up connection at about 2.4 kbps.
Cheers Mate!

It's spring, so we alternate between winter and summer every day, with a good dose of wind to power it along. |

That's right! You're doing the "Summer's coming" thing while we're doing the "winter's coming" thing.
That doesn't mean a whole lot here in Florida. It just means days that aren't quite so hot. Never really cold though. And we never get the beautiful color on the trees that they see "Up North" in the fall.
Most of the trees on my own property are "Live Oaks" or "Pines" and of course they stay green all year long. So Winter coming is kind of a Non-Event here.
Wind? We only get wind in a Hurricane or the occasional Tornado.
There aren't many Wind-Mills in Florida.
Cheers mate!

Hello,
The release notes point to these fixes listed in the Mozilla Security Advisory. The main one being the fix for the URI parsing issue.

And, how many LG readers know or care what a URI Parsing Issue is or does?
Suffice it to just know that whatever is wrong with FF, the guys at Mozilla FF are aware of it and are writing fixes for it.
And, most important of all......they've released a new version to take care of the problem!

Hello,
It is a security hole, so I would imagine most people who are affected by it would want to know about it so they could update their systems.

Trust the guys at Firefox to take care of those security holes, get all the updates and don't worry about what a Parsing error is.
Firefox will automatically get it's own updates for itself and most of its addons if you'll just let it. I do!
Cheers!

I'm really looking forward to FF3! Having used Firefox since v0.9, I have seen it really progress over the past few years. I must admit that the only time I got disenchanted was when they released FF2 and it constantly crashed on my Linux system. But once they got FF v2.0.0.3 out that was all fixed, and I've not had a single problem with it since then. I can't recall the last time it froze or crashed - it really is a very stable piece of free software. |

Thanks jobu (and welcome to the forums) -
I must admit that I am eagerly anticipating the release of Firefox 3 - it looks awesome!
The only reason I don't install the beta versions is that I like the add-on developers to catch up with the new version first, so I don't have a bunch of extensions disabled as incompatible. It's good to see that the Mozilla developers have addressed the memory problems too. Although the latest versions of FF2 have been a big improvement, they still had some way to go. Hopefully FF3 will be a lean, mean browsing machine |

Thanks, seaeagle - and cheers for the quick reply!
I agree: don't install beta versions, they are only intended for testing and review etc. - and as you know - not ready for general use, yet.
BTW what did you think of that new tech site, http://jstuf.com/

While I was online just a few minutes ago, Firefox automatically updated itself to 2.0.0.10.
Onward and upward!
