I`m frequently getting:
"Bad Request (Invalid Header Name)" on an otherwise completely blank page
on Firefox when I click on links on some sites and, predominately, also on Hotmail, either trying to log in or, if I get that far, trying to delete my messages. Clicking on thumbnail images to enlarge them on a particular site also gives me the same errror, but it doesn`t seem consistent. I`m guessing it might be something to do with one of the extensions, as Firefox seems to run OK in its own safe mode (a damn sight faster, too!) and Firefox on my other networked PC with just a few extensions doesn`t appear to give errors. Any easy way of finding out which extension might be causing the trouble, short of laboriously disabling them, one by one? Or is it something else that might be causing the problem?
I have just had to copy and paste this in to the other PC as when I tried to preview or send, I got an error that said my browser sent a request the server could not understand. Huh? Cheers!

The problem with extensions is that from time to time they bang heads and cause wierd things to happen...there are 2 ways to approach this. If you remember which ones you installed most recently i would try dis-abling them one at a time until you find the culprit.

The way i would approach it though would be to dis-able all of them and load and test them one by one according to how important they are to my browsing...

I'm sure you'll find the culprit.
BTW did this happen right after the most recent update ? ?
I heard it had some glitches in it and a fix is due any minute...

patio. Cool

Thanks for that. I will do that, when I have the time to spare. I think that you`re probably right about the time the errors started appearing - when the last update emerged, but I can`t be certain. As it first showed up trying to log in to Hotmail, for some odd reason, I thought it was a Hotmail glitch and left it at that for the time being. Only when I got the same error on other sites (but no real pattern) did I twig that it might be a browser problem
I have, literally, just had Firefox announce that it has downloaded a further update within the last few minutes, but it hasn`t cured the problem. In fact, I clicked on a link on the "Problem Solvers" page and got the same error!
Will go through the extensions systematically and throw out the ones I never seem to use and let you know. Cheers Smile
P.S. when I hit preview, I got:
______________________________________________________________
Bad Request

Your browser sent a request that this server could not understand.
Apache/2.2.0 (Fedora) Server at drumpoint.lhhost.com Port 80
_____________________________________________________________

So have had to use the other PC to send this. I presume it`s part of the same problem?

Just an addition. Had a hunch. I had Google web accelerator installed as an extension and disabled that first. Bingo! All seems OK. Some sort of incompatabilty there. I reckon, but can`t really get a handle on any pattern. Browsing was actually faster without it!

I found the same results - Google accelerator actually slowed down my system. Cool

Thanks for letting us know what you found.

OK. I have, in fact uninstalled it completely from the Control Panel Add/Remove programs (Google`s recommendation for an uninstall), as it only seemed to remain disabled for the session - coming back up again on a re-boot. As I`m in the UK, wondered if that might be the reason that browsing seemed slow, or does it gobble up resources? Doesn`t seem very successful! Crying or Very sad

BT's been on a downhill slope ever since it split from the GPO and was privatised, personally... Laughing
