I was just typing out another response on this board and it reminded me of two of my favorite Gnomedex moments from last year.
The first was Chris, Ponzi, Tom Novak (Sudden Curve), Greg Hughes (www.greghughes.net) and myself sitting in the Starbucks hovered over our laptops sharing all sorts of ideas and stories. I had only known each one of these guys/gals a few minutes but felt like I had known them for years. We ended up sitting there (at least some formation of the participants) for quite a few hours.
This was at the time that Chris was on his big weight loss kick and he was running around the Starbucks asking everybody, including the customers, if they wanted a "No Trans-fat" Oreo.
Second was playing low-stakes hold-em with Wil Wheaton, Jason Calacanis (weblogsinc), Brad, DBS, and few other Gnomies until the wee hours of the morning at Harvey's. Since it was our last night and the airport shuttle was picking me up at some ungodly hour, I decided it was best to remain awake until it arrived. The best way to do this was to hit the poker room.
I learned quite a bit about Texas hold-em but at the same time laughed my a$$ off. Jason had all of us rolling with his quick-wit antics and interaction with the non-Gnomedexers at the table.
Best quote of the evening - "If it wasn't for prison rape, I'd be Lex Luthor" - Calacanis during a meandering conversation that crossed into the realm of what kept him walking the "straight and narrow".
