okay so it looks like some sort of ad. by the title.

but what i am trying to get you to see is that there is a new program on the freeware site of http://www.majorgeeks.com it was there some time last week.
it is called cleanmem and it will only get rid of the ram from the process'es just sitting there doing nothing,

what they do is allocate tons of ram and sit there waiting for you to run the program, if you never do then the tons of ram never gets used but it
is locked up and unable to be used by any other process.

so this program comes by and slaps the process up side the head and takes the unused ram leaving just enough for the process to stay loaded.

and releases the unused ram back in to the system storage pool so any other process can use it.

there is an ignore list for this program, and it runs on 32 and 64 bit systems starting with win2000.
this program does NOT use or make anything go in to the swap file.

it does need some things put in the ignore list you will see what they are.
mostly i put in the internet programs like ie, and the connection software, and the download manager stuff that you don't want to loose any ram but you want to get all they can.

also if you see in the task manager any process that is listed multiple times with one time only have any ram listed the rest are zero'ed out, that process should be put in the ignore list then also.

since it can't use less ram and keeps closing leaving the mulitple listings in the task manager.

this has now replaced all my ram cleaning programs i used to use. Cool

Hey Cowboy,
I just installed Cleanmem it's certainly unobtrusive I only wish I had benched marked the system before.
Probably won't be able to tell until I push the system hard but it looks interesting!
Thanks I'm always looking for something to play with! Very Happy

sorry for the late reply i got no notice from here of a reply to this.

but i have found it works but is noticed better on systems with less then one gb of ram.

but it really does keep the ram hogs in check.

i have also found this alone will work great for general use
but if you start merging wav files to make a huge 30 minute plus wav file
or you start editing videos you are still going to need a ram clearing program.

RAM CLEARING = ram program that acts like a bulldozer and uses swapfile.

RAM CLEANING = ram program that acts like a policeman and keeps the loaded programs from being ram hogs by taking their held in reserve ram back and giving it to the system for other programs. and the ram cleaner's dont use the swap file.

Cool
