Hello

My HP Pavillion dv9000 laptop doesn't work now, and I bought an external HDD enclosure to connect the laptop's hard drive to my PC. The connection has been completed without a problem, but the PC sees only one external drive named (G) which shows only one drive's files. There were (C) and (D) and they were totally 230 GB. Now, the (G) is 230 GB, but I can see only D's files, the others are not there. How can I solve this problem and see my other files in (C)?..

It's an Everest HDC-120 USB hard drive external enclosure for 2.5" SATA hard drives.

If G is showing the 230GB, rather than something like G with say 100GB and H with the remaining 130GB, it would appear that the hd is no longer partitioned into two parts.
What is the part that was D while it was in the notebook now labeled? G

Sorry, I didn't understand your question. Are you asking if it's FAT32 or NTFS?

Hello,

Perhaps the missing disk volume needs to have a drive letter assigned to it manually. You can do this by running the Disk Management program (filename: DISKMGMT.MSC to view all the drives attached to your computer, then selecting the Hewlett-Packard Pavillion dv9000 notebook's hard disk drive which is mounted in the Everest HDC-120 external USB hard disk drive enclosure, right-clicking on the disk volume which does not have a letter assigned to it, and selecting Change Drive Letter and Paths from the popup context menu.

Zlim and goretsky; thanks for your help, but I realised that there's two HDDs in HP Pavillion dv9000 laptops, and I removed the other one and it was my C hard drive. I hope that helps others who suffer this problem; some laptops(maybe most of them) has two HDDs, so you should remove both of them for copy your ALL files...

But I have one more question: While I was trying to copy my files to my PC hard drive F(I was re-starting my computer often, I must add); suddenly F has disappeared! And now there's no drive named F.

Why? What can I do?.. How can I get my F drive back?

Edit: This is a different question so I guess I should open a new topic. Thanks for solving this problem... Smile

Hello,

Does the F: drive still show up? You can run the aforementioned Disk Management program to see if it is identified as a storage device by the computer.
