Disgruntled Motherboard

My computer halts in mid boot up and shows me a complaint message...

ERROR: KEYBOARD IS MISSING OR HAS KEYBOARD ERROR.

I disconnect the keyboard and the machine beeps, but the lights don't come on or do anything. I reboot and same message. I'm not a newbee, but I'm not a computer genuis either. email me \[EMAIL=purewolf386@hotmail.com\]purewolf386@hotmail.com\[/EMAIL\]

Welcome to the forums.

Check the longer keys on the keyboard, see if any of them are stuck on one side. Lift up the keyboard and look at the keys from their level; do any appear stuck in the down position?

You can get a USB or PS2 keyboard at any computer store for $12-20.

Check the mouse connection as well...

A usb keyboard could help in this situation.....

I had to take the keyboard apart and clean it throughly!! I put it back together and it works like is was new!! thanks for your help!
