I am a very happy chappie today after watching Australia win back the Ashes from England's grasp on the 5th day of the 3rd test match in Perth, Western Australia. There's still 2 more 5 day matches to go - I reckon we can make it a 5-0 whitewash.

Some highlights for me:

Watching Australia chase down a 500 odd run lead in the 2nd test to win in the final hours of the 5th & last day.

Watching "Mr Cricket" Mike Hussey - probably the greatest batsman in the game since the great Don Bradman who played in the 1930's & 40's. He now has an average of just under 90 runs per innings. The Don's average was 99.94, Hussey is at 86.83, and the next is Graeme Pollock who played in the 1970's at 60.97. Hussey is a dream to watch.

Seeing Adam Gilchrist score the second fastest century ever in test cricket. He also set a new record of 24 runs off one 6 ball over.

And (of course) seeing the greatest bowler to have ever lived (and test cricket has been played for 130 years), Shane Warne, bowl Monty Panesar to win back the Ashes trophy.

The English didn't play badly - they really tested our resolve on a number of occasions, but the Aussies rose to the challenge every time.

I think our opening batsman, Matthew Hayden, summed it up best when he was interviewed during the post-match celebrations: "Australia - you bloody beauty!!!"

THEY'RE back. It took 16 years to lose them, 15 months to plan how to get them back, and only 15 days to achieve it. The Ashes are once again in Australian hands after Ricky Ponting's side gained revenge in the most emphatic style yesterday - securing a 3-0 lead with two matches to play in the series.

Having felt the anguish of watching England hold the tiny, precious trophy aloft in September last year, Australia inflicted similar pain on the tourists at 2.13pm Perth time, when Shane Warne bowled the last England batsman, Monty Panesar, to secure victory by 206 runs.

With this, his 699th Test wicket, Warne ended England's reign - the shortest of any side in the 124-year history of the Ashes.

Now Warne intends to become the first man to reach 700 wickets - on his beloved home ground, the MCG, where the fourth Test starts on Boxing Day. (continued)

A well-Warne victory … captain Ricky Ponting, centre, savours his greatest triumph as
Shane Warne, who bowled the last wicket, leaps into the arms of Andrew Symonds.
