I have an HP Pavilion with LightScribe DVD Super multidrive / CD writer, working on Vista. My problem: I have burned a file of pictures onto a CD and given them to a friend who uses Mac -- both desktop and laptop. Neither will read my CD, insisting there's an error. But the CD works fine on my system and on my Compac laptop. What's the problem?

The simplest answer is:

Windows file structures and MAC file structures are NOT compatible.

You could maybe send the pictures as .jpg files via the email or internet.
I'd at least give that a try.

Years ago, that was the only way we could exchange files between Commodore 64 computers and IBM PC's.

good luck,

Hello,

When you put the picture files from the HP Pavilion computer onto a CD, did you use special software such as Nero, Roxio or Toast, or did you just "drag-and-drop" them on using packet-writing (DLA) software like InCD or Sonic?

With the first type of software, you have to run special software to "create" (master) the CD-R disc. With the latter, you copy the files to the CD-R like you would a floppy diskette or USB flash ram drive.

I believe that if you use software such as Nero, make sure it's writing an Joliet format CD, and set the burn process close the CD after writing (no multisession), a modern Mac should be able to read it.

When it comes to questions about MAC's, I'm left scratching my head. Confused

I don't even know anyone who owns a MAC!

From here, you'd have to drive at least 90 miles to find someone who would service a MAC.

I've seen printers that come with two drivers CD's.....one for PC's and one for MAC's.

In this part of the world, a MAC is pretty much a non-event.

Happy Holidays Everyone!
