I have a software product that I am reluctant to show testimonials.

Since my client target are programmers, and I as a programmer
don't care about testimonials when I purchase something, I belive
for this site, testimonials are a waste of time.

Specifically, the product is a java component.

I have a friend that is sure that testimonials will turn more visitors
into buyers.

What is your opinion on this?

Hello,

A quick search of WilsonWeb found several articles such as this one talking about the use of testimonials on web sites. You could certainly try it and see what effect, if any, it has on sales.

Regards,

Well think about it... What do people want to know before they buy something? You think they are going to ask the manufacture or someone who has used it before? How many times have you bought something because someone you know told you it was great?

I'd say use'em
