Add ClearType Fonting
Use ClearType fonting that is a new feature for WinXP. Talk about crisp characters....
You can minimally make it active via RightClick on Desktop>>Properties>>Appearance>>Effects
Second CheckBox Pulldown Menu ClearType and then CheckMark box
Or download more feature-full utility directly from http://www.microsoft.com/typography/cleartype/
Then tweak it more at the following website:

It does wonders for LCD Displays but works dang good for regular monitors as well! Don't ask me why!
