The glass on my CanoScan 4200F Scanner has a slightly hazy film on the underside that I would like to clean. Anyone have any idea how to open the beast to get the glass out? I have removed all obvious screws but the cover doesn't come loose.

I mailed Canon support and was told to pack up the scanner and send it to a service center. Not very useful!

Hope someone out there has what is probably a simple answer...

Some manufacturers (unintentionally or otherwise) may put a screw behind a name plate/tag and or under the rubber feetsies!
Other manufacturers make their units snap-on or a clam-shell design.
Other manufacturers glue the glass as the ultimate form of cheapness!
I have had the same haziness problem with my previous scanners. When I finally had to open my present Visionaire/OneTouch to clean it, I used some Rain-X treatment on it and it has not hazed again!

The haze is probably due to the out-gasing of the chemicals used (such as plastics and electronics)
