| Too bad I moved to Charlotte late last year from Chicago...I plan on going to Gnomedex...I went to the first one and had a blast but just couldn't go last year. I would definately join you in the venture if I still lived up there.

I'm planning on making the trip for the first time this year. I've got a van and can take 3 or 4. I live in the northwest suburbs of Chicago.

I too live in the northwest suburbs...Schaumburg to be exact. Unfortunately I can not attend this year due to work constraints or I would definitely be joining your carpool! Ah...to wish for the open road on a geek road trip.....Sounds reminisent of the very first "Revenge of the nerds" huh? LOL  |

Hmmmmm - I live downstate in Illinois is a very Normal place....heh heh
Grew up in Elgin, so the Schaumburg mention was a surprise. I would be interested in a carpool or caravan - I'd hafta meet up around La Salle - Peru and leave my car there. I are a female-type who would love a road trip as it would be fun to travel with someone whose eyes did not glaze over when I talked of Net things... |

| I'm swinging through Chicago to pick up a bud that's going with me. I'll probably just be in a two-seater, though and we're probably leaving the Chicago area late Thursday night. What time and location were people thinking of meeting to head out? If it works out, I'd be part of the "caravan". |

I will be leaving the far Western suburbs (Oswego) on Thursday sometime headed for Des Moines. More than likely I'll take my truck (extended cab - for the gear not the person) so I would have room for one extra. You can find the particulars below:
About me:
I'm 36 and male, married and ask that any respondents be over the age of 21.
Route: Highway 80
Departing: 7/24 thinking around 12:00 PM (CDT)
Returning: 7/26 late afternoon
Gear: Laptop, wi-fi attenaes, and possibly my road bike
Music: Dead, Allman Bros, String Cheese, Wide Spread, DMB, etc... I will listen to most anything excluding rap
Job Position: Senior network manager for a local area college
If you need a lift and want to contribute to the travel costs, please reply...

Who knew there were so many of us here (or going for that matter)! Looking forward to meeting ya'll and having a great time in Iowa...
I live in the Western Burbs, but am going to be leaving from the North Shore where I'm currently working at a client... I won't be until late Thursday night, but we should all try and meet up sometime Friday at the conference...
Anyone know of a centralized place us folks from the "Land of Abe Froman" can meet up?

I haven't seen any final committments on setting up a caravan... I'm game also if anyone is interested... Right now my plan is to depart around 12:00 PM (CDT) Thursday and head straight out I-80... I'll check back here right before I depart...
I'll be driving a matador red Ford Ranger XLT. I'm thinking about putting a Pirillo head in the rear passenger side window. I also have an omnidirectional wi-fi (looks like a snorkle - at least thats what my wife says) that sticks up from the bed of the truck and a grateful dead "have a grateful day" rear license plate frame.
If you see me... give a honk...
Hope to see some of you folks along the way....

Anyways, if you see a Green Mini Cooper with a White Top flying down I-80 with an Apple sticker in the back window, that'd be me... Feel free to wave, salute or otherwise acknowledge me (preferably not using the middle finger)...  I'm not leaving until 4ish so I won't be until late Thursday night... |
