1. Can I exchange the G3 DVDROM RPC2 locked unit in my G3 B&W for another unit from a PC which is region free and also will burn DVDs etc.???
I'm using OSX 3.7 which works beautifully. BUT, the DVD player that comes with OSX won't play 321Studios shrunken DVD movie backup version. Won't even find it, in fact. Plus the reset counter is already down to 3 changes only.
2. If I reinstall the OS after zeroing the hdd out will the reset counter revert to 5 changes or not?

I have an EMac and an IMac. I need to switch the cd-RW in one for the DVD in the other. I am not sure how to even open the case.

Any help or tips would be appreciated very much.
