Well.......here in the UK, we call `em mobile phones, but that`s an aside. Not sure if this post belongs here or elsewhere. Doubtless I will be told in due course! Smile Just come across this site, courtesy of The Internet Patrol newsletter:
http://www.flexispy.com
NOW, this all seems very shady to me. Nor sure about the legality here in the UK. What`s the position in the States, where it obviously originates from? What`s other Gnomies` opinion of this sort of stuff?

I wasn't able to view the link but cell phone "spying" does exist. Think about it (in the US) if the government tag certain words (like president, shoot, kill) to make sure there any threats against this country or its leaders and your conversation can be played back in a courtroom; it has to be listened in on and recorded. I'm sure the run of the mill conversations aren't kept.
I can see other non-third world countries doing this as well.

There is a HUGE installation here in the US..... can't remember its name,
where all airborn communications are monitored 24x7.
Super computers listen for key words that could denote criminal activity and then they record the conversation.

This isn't widely advertised, but it's been going on for quite a while now. Rolling Eyes
Big Brother is Watching! (and listening)

Cheers Mates!

On the subject of legality in the UK (or elsewhere), after a LOT of digging on the site I came up with this:
Quote:

Is FlexiSPY Legal?

The product is not illegal, but the way in which it is used may break local laws. In general, you may use it on a phone that you own, for protecting your children, for archiving data, for enforcing explicitly stated business use guidelines and so on. We do not support any illegal use of our products, and the term of sale means that you agree to abide by your local laws. Please consult a qualified lawyer in your country for the correct answer to this question

Is Flexispy legal?

Bit of a cop-out, no? Very Happy
On the subject of wider, government 'listening', it's been going on over here in the UK for many years too, certainly since the 'cold war' days, although technology has no doubt advanced massively since then?
There are at least 3 locations that I'm aware of in the UK, the main one being in Cheltenham, but with others (curiously enough on 'American soil' ) on the moors outside of Whitby and Harrogate ... info about the sites is easily available via Google.
