Hello 911401 and welcome to Lockergnome!

Make sure that you have the latest drivers for your graphics card, sound card and motherboard chipset.
Make sure all unnecessary background tasks have been closed.
Try setting the hardware acceleration for your sound card to Basic acceleration.
Try downloading DirectX from the Microsoft site and reinstalling it.

What are your system specs?

The easiest way to find out your specs would be for you to download and run Belarc Advisor. Belarc will then analyse your hardware and display a report. Copy and paste your specs with your next post, please don't post any personal details such as ip addresses etc...

Belarc had problems detecting your graphics card.
Can you run DirectX diagnostics please.

Click start > click run > type dxdiag > click ok > click on display.
In the top left hand corner it will display information on your graphics card can you post that as well.

You have Intel integrated graphics which doesn't work with the game. To be able to play the game you'll need to upgrade your graphics card.
If this is your PC then you have one 16x PCI Express slot which means you can upgrade to one of the latest graphics cards.

Hello berkelaar and welcome to Lockergnome!

The Intel integrated graphics cards aren't capable of running the game so the game doesn't need fixing.
The graphics card on laptops can't be upgraded so you need a new laptop.

The MrGold and welcome to Lockergnome!

First thing to try would be to run Driver Cleaner to clean up previous driver installations and then install the latest Nvidia drivers.
Then try updating your sound card drivers.
If that doesn't work download and reinstall DirectX.

I'm sorry for the late reply and thanks for the welcome. Here is my feedback;

Upgrading my graphique and sound card drivers didn't help, so I decided to go for a DirectX reinstall, eventhough I wasn't so eager to do that... It went wrong like I thought it would  I ended up with a half DX 8 install that I couldn't update to 9.0c and I couldn't play any game anymore. I had to format Sad Afther the format COD2 just played smouthly on my machine, and I could finish it without any problems.
But PC problems never end  Now I have Need for Speed Most Wanted, and it doesn't play fine. I have like 3fps all the time (intro, menu, ingame) and any graphical setting + graphical glitches at the highest resolution. It only went smoothly the 2nd after install (no horribal lagg and no graph glitches at high res), but after that it went back to 3fps. Strangest problem I ever had so far. Anyways

Thanks for the support guys, you're doin a great job!!!

Any local computer shop can upgrade the graphics card or you could buy the graphics card online and have someone fit it for you.
I would recommend nothing less than a Geforce 6800 series graphics card for Call of Duty 2.

Oh thats too bad...
I tried to download the update from call of duty from the www.activision.com website
and now COD notes that "Failed to initialize renderer: version mismatch"
any more suggestions?
or just stop trying...?

thanx!

The game can't be fixed because it isn't broken. The problem lies with the Intel integrated graphics card which simply isn't powerful enough to run the game and isn't even supported by the game anyway.

Give up and buy a desktop with a decent graphics card, something like a Geforce 6800 series.
