My problem is loading up multiplayer, it takes 1-2 minutes to initialize loading.. other than that I have no other problems. Single player loads fine.. and fast.. but Multiplayer just takes so darn long and I have no idea why. It used to load instantly on my old computer.. but now with this one I'm stuck just staring at a black screen for 1-2 minutes before I'm able to start playing. Any ideas?.. I have the latest driver for my card.. I'm thinking it might be Windows Vista.. but I dunno..

I should probably note that it doesnt take 1-2 mins to joni a server.. just to initialize loading to get to the main multiplayer screen.. after that.. everything is up to speed.

Just a quick question: has anyone here had their startup movies, and sometimes the intro movies for the missions freeze on them? This is almost always happening for me. Event Viewer says the following:

Hanging application CoD2SP_s.exe, version 0.0.0.0, hang module hungapp, version 0.0.0.0, hang address 0x00000000.

I'm just wondering if this is a common occurance.

Hi, I've been trying to solve this texture problem for a week now, still no luck. Since I started my second run in Call of Duty 2 I've seen black textures (black boxes, trees, sandbags, etc), they can also get the wrong light, for example, a table can be bright when it's in a room without light Razz

I didn't have this problem the first time I played the game which was only last week! I have tried everything, install the latest drivers, reinstall the game completely three times, reinstall directX but nothing is working.

Below is my computer specs, but I don't think that they are the problem since I can run this game perfectly. It's just the black textures that's the problem. And as I mentioned before, I have played it without the black textures before, so what the hell is the problem? Confused

Hello Desperate and welcome to Lockergnome!

Thanks for the detailed post but I need the full model number. There are loads of different model numbers for the DV9000, I just want to be sure I know what i'm dealing with.

The model number should be on the HP label (check the link).

Thanks for the specs.

Your graphics card isn't actually supported by the game that could be at least part of the problem.

The first thing to do is to update the graphics card driver (link is provided).

http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareDownloadIndex?softwareitem=...51233-1

Download the driver, uninstall the existing driver via add/remove program in control panel, restart your PC and then install the new one.

Also make sure you have the latest game patch installed.

I did it. At first it looked like it worked, but then I spotted a black tree and black grass. As I said in my first post, they were not there the first time I played the game. I don't think it has with the drivers to do, there must be something else.

A few more things to try:

Try lowering the graphical settings from the in game menu.
Do a RAM test. http://www.memtest.org

Hey, I solved it by playing on DirectX 7! It's almost the same graphics, but not as detailed as DirectX 9 Confused But at least I got rid of the black textures. Thanks for your help Smile

I'm also having issues with Call of Duty 2. I'm getting the DirectX unrecoverable error when it tries to load the first level.

My system specs are as follows:

Windows XP Service Pack 2
Athlon 2400
512 MB
ATI Radeon 9700 Pro
Creative SoundBlaster Live Platinum soundcard

I've tried all the usual stuff, i.e. updating drivers and directx, disabling AGP fastwrites, disabling unnecessary services, attempting to run the games with all settings as low as possible, but no matter what I try I get the DirectX error when the progress bar gets to just past the halfway point when loading the first level.

Any thoughts on anything else I can try to get this game to work would be much appreciated.

Fixed the problem Very Happy

It turns out that the latest Catalyst drivers can cause the DirectX unrecoverable error.

Call of Duty 2 won't work on my system with the 7-11 or 7-10 drivers but will work with the 6-11 drivers so if anyone else with a Radeon card is experiencing the DirectX unrecoverable error then uninstalling the drivers and using earlier versions may help.

Hello rahoz and welcome to Lockergnome!

Try updating your drivers to the latest Catalyst drivers (available from ati.com) if they don't work try the 6.11 Catalyst drivers.

http://ati.amd.com/support/drivers/xp/radeon-prer300-xp.html - Windows XP.

Uninstall the existing drivers via add/remove program files in control panel > restart your PC and then install the new one.
