| Rename the Installshield folder, once you do this the COD2 disk will install it again. Folder is located in C:\Program Files\Common Files.

Hello Gaidin and welcome to Lockergnome!
What are the specs of your PC?
If you don't know then please download and run SysSpec. Run the file > click on the system button > click edit > click copy to clipboard and then paste it with your reply. |

Hello jackiedawn and welcome to Lockergnome!
I've never seen that before, first thing i'd try is a reinstall of the game. |

Hi,
Your graphics card isn't supported by the game because it doesn't fully support DirectX9 (which is a requirement of the game).
As this is a laptop you can't upgrade your graphics card either so you're stuck with only one option, use a different PC to play it on. |

I figured out what was wrong with it. It was xfire. I had to uninstall my xfire and then reinstall it. Sometimes I just shut my xfire off before I go in and play cod2 now. |

Hi, I'm having some trouble playing this game. First, some specs;
AMD® Live Technology - AthlonTM 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 5000+
2048MB 667MHz Dual Channel DDR2 SDRAM
250GB (7200rpm) Serial ATA Hard Drive with 8MB DataBurstTM cache
256MB nVidiaTM GeForce 8600GT graphics card
At first, neither single nor multiplayer would work. Single player would freeze at the loading screen, multiplayer would crash and exit at it. So I installed the following;
- Directx 9.0
- Patch 1.3
- What I think were new drivers for my Card.
After that, single player works flawlessly and looks great. The problem is still with multiplayer, when I try to load it, it crashes and exits. I also enabled SP2 compatibility under properties and tried to run it as administrator, even on the lowest possible resolution with highest performance off the card - but still the same problem.
Will I ever get it working? I had it on the 360 and loved it online |

| Do a complete uninstall, remove any left over files/folders, run CCleaner to cleanup temp files and the registry. Then install the game and install the patches in order. |

I've uninstalled the game, ran CCleaner, reinstalled the game and installed all patches. Multiplayer still will not load |

Hi, I'm working for a game center and we experience a little problem with our Call of Duty 2. While loading a multiplayer map it does a blackscreen ( just before map loading screen appears ). The game host never get that problem, but people who connect does randomly. It is never constant or on the same computer.
The 20 computers we have are all spec'ed as the following :
Windows: Windows XP5.1 (Build 2600) Service Pack 2
Internet Explorer: 6.0.2900.2180
Memory (RAM): 2046 MB
CPU: Intel(R) Core(TM)2 CPU 6600 @ 2.40GHz
CPU Speed: 2381,4 MHz
Sound card: SigmaTel Audio
Display Adapters: NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GTS | LogMeIn Mirror Driver | NetMeeting driver | RDPDD Chained DD
Screen Resolution: 1280 X 1024 - 32 bit
:
Network Adapters: Broadcom NetXtreme 57xx Gigabit Controller - Packet Scheduler Miniport
CD / DVD Drives: D: TSSTcorpDVD-ROM TS-H352C | E: Generic DVD-ROM | F: AXV CD/DVD-ROM | G: AXV CD/DVD-ROM | H: AXV CD/DVD-ROM | I: AXV CD/DVD-ROM | J: AXV CD/DVD-ROM | K: AXV CD/DVD-ROM
:
COM Ports: COM1
LPT Ports: LPT1
Mouse: 7 Button Wheel Mouse Present
Hard Disks: C: 232,8GB
Hard Disks - Free: C: 162,2GB
USB Controllers: 5 host controllers.
Firewire (1394): Not Detected
:
Manufacturer: Dell Inc.
Product Make: Precision WorkStation 390
:
AC Power Status: OnLine
BIOS Info: ATAT COMPATIBLE 032907 DELL 14
Time Zone: Eastern Standard Time
Battery: No Battery
Motherboard: Dell Inc. 0DN075
Modem: Not detected
Our drivers are all up to date and tried the solutions provided in the first post of the forum. We tried testing the hardware acceleration sound card with DxDiag and it said ''Your sound card does not support hardware buffering. Sound will only play back from software buffers.'' (If this could help somehow)
We even tried contacting Activision's technical support which could give us no other answers than ''Try setting the graphics lower''.
Thanks in advance, hoping to find the solution to our problems.

Well, I contacted Activision support, and after 11 emails back and forth - their bottom line is that its incompatible with Vista.
Even though single player works fine |
