Browsers hijacked, computer unsteady

hey guys,

I got infected with the nasty Antivirus XP 2008 and my computer got totally screwed up in the process.

I managed to install Malwarebytes software, ran it, and removed the malware. Also removed the wallpaper stuff. Ran Ad-aware, running spybot now. Ran a couple of fix registry things too.

But there's still stuff in my computer. First, by fixing registry stuff, my computer started displaying BSoD. It happens when I restart for the most part, and it's really hard for it to start normally without rebooting due to one. When I do manage to enter windows in normal mode, if I don't touch the computer for a while, it freezes.

Then there's the problem of my browsers being hijacked. I have 3 problems:

1) Yahoo/Google/etc links open up a new window taking me everywhere but where the link is supposed to go.
2) Some sites are not even recognized even if I directly type the address on the address bar.
3) Some sites like gamefaqs and google mail are displayed all wrong. They don't take the whole browser space but just a bit of it, causing them to look all wrong.

Go to http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/combofix/how-to-use-combofix and follow the instructions on how to install the Recovery Console and run ComboFix. Go through all the steps until posting the log part. Post the combofix log here.

hi i have exactly the same problem but i can't load google mail at all or hotmail and the link you just posted greyknight, appears to be dead or is blocked by whatever i have like quite a few other sites seem to be.

ibdead1, please follow the instructions in the sticky topic (it's in the top of the page in the HijackThis Logs board). I suggest getting it from another computer and saving it to a USB thumb drive to transfer over.
