Hello,

I have a problem with my Brother MFC 8840D Printer.

It's connected to a switch with several other printers in my local network, however it's the only printer with this problem.

The problem is that it keep loosing network connection, which makes it unavailable for usage. I have tried different ports in the switch, and with different cables. Also tried from different machines in the network, without luck.

Things I've tried:

Rebooting printer, keeping it shut off for a few minutes.
Switch ports in the switch
Different network cables

My ping results from a PC in the same network is with 96% loss, out of 1000 packets send.

Hello,

First of all I thank you for replying.

However none of the links you gave me was any help. I tried to factory reset the internal printserver, but didn't change anything, I still got a 96-97% packet loss while pinging the printer - Which makes me unable to use it at all.

No changes at the PC client will make it work, as I've tried all kind of different configurations.

This problem started occuring recently, could be fixed by rebooting the printer - But then the problem just got worse. And at the moment I'm unable to use the printer at all.

Again, anything that might point in the direction of finding the problem is greatly appreciated.

I'd first start by connecting the printer directly to any computer. This would be to troubleshoot if there is something wrong with the printer.
Keep it on a computer for several days, printing to it and see if the same behavior occurs.
Since you've already changed switch ports and ethernet cables, you've ruled out those two things.

Thanks for your input.

However before connecting the printer directly to a computer, I'll try to use a printserver to see if the problem is located with the internal printserver.

I'll come back with the results.
