I'm using FF on a WindowsXP system. However, regardless of the browser I use I can't see Google Adsense Ads or Amazon Ads. I get the Blue Circle with the "i" in the center of it.

I've tried the Adblock Plus add-on for FF and it didn't work.

I don't have this problem with my laptop. I can see all ads.

I don't have any Virus programs running.

What could be doing this?

Hello,

What software might be installed on the computer which is blocking the advertisements?

Regards,

I was having the same problem until just now. I recently put ads on my own website (THE HORROR!) and need to be able to see how they look.

I have been using several programs to protect myself from maliciousness, one in particular named hosts secure that automatically updated the hosts file for me. The problem is that it also blocks amazon and google ads...

If you have no software installed like adblock, you still may have had your hosts file updated previously.

If you are using windows XP go to C:/windows/system32/drivers/etc/hosts and remove any line-items that are from "googleadservices" or from google.com...once removed save the file and you should be good to go.

This is not a registry edit or anything more in depth like that...just open it in word or notepad and then save.

Also...I'm currently researching which items to remove so I can see the amazon ads...I am not sure as of yet.

PS....it will most likely be read only when you find in C:/windows/system32/drivers/etc . make sure you go into the folder options and allow it to show you administrative files, then make sure the "read-only" button is NOT selected.

Sounds complicated, but it isnt.

Google will have alot of help too for editing the hosts file...
