Try the steps again as they work perfectly unless you are skipping a step or you are using a Web Browser that is broken, over secured, or not allowing the page to display. If you are using Internet Explorer, stop using it and install Firefox from here www.mozilla.com/firefox/ to perform the steps.

Just tried it today and it's still working. For some reason, I could not get it to download in IE 7 but it did in Firefox.

Got it - no trouble - BUT IT'S INCOMPATIBLE WITH VISTA - no doubt this
is why it's free - obsolence looms! but Acronis will proberly sell some upgrades.

Ghost 2003, still available for FREE, from sites around the world, still works for XP, 2k, ME, 98 and DOS.
My software guru tells me he uses it to backup his Linux Server.

It runs from any kind of DOS boot media you can imagine.
That includes, Floppy Disk (internal or USB Floppy Drive), CD, DVD, Flash Drive, SD Memory card.

No obsolescence there!

EDIT: The version of Ghost that will backup and restore Vista, is Version 11.5. (nothing older will work)

Hello,

Although it may be possible to obtain Symantec Ghost freely, that is because it is bundled with another product. The program is not free and needs to be appropriately licensed for use.

What's the purpose?

What do you hope to accomplish with this FREE program?

Every Sea Tools or Max Blast disk, that comes free with a new hard drive has cloning and imaging solfware on it.

I've just verified that both will make bootable backups of a Vista hard drive.

Ho hoops to jump thru, NO lic Keys to obtain, NO registration.
Just get it and run it. Wink

The CD's are all over the place and the files are easy to download if you can't find a CD.

By the way, the backup and imaging routines are written by Acronis. Wink Wink
The same great backup software as in the retail package is available for
FREE on the CD's that come with either Seagate or Maxtor drives.
Or you can download it freely from their web sites.

You NEVER have to buy backup software!!!!!

Y'all have a great day now, Y'hear?

Yes, On February 21st, 2008 the offer was working and still working on May 10th, 2008 when I personally checked it and wrote my download steps guide and it was still working as late as June 2008 when I last checked, but as of July 2008, now a 5 full months later, the web site that gave out the serial numbers has stopped the offer. It did state they reserved the right to discontinue the offer at any time.

If it's FREE and worth having, then the acquisition should consist of nothing more than clicking the download link and waiting for the file to finish downloading onto your PC.

Beware of the Wolf in sheep's clothing! Wink
That's the sound of pure ignorance. You act like registering to get a serial number is some fantastically complex, life threatening, herculean ordeal. If you don't want the software, don't drop comments in the thread because you don't want others to have it. The real Doctor Who would take your Nym away and drop you in a time vortex for being a slack off. We know you download commercial software that you don't have a license to use by your Ghost 2003 comments since it is not free and never has been.

Now you're just being nasty and Flame Baiting.
The moderator who edited your post should have just deleted the whole thing.

However, I won't play your game!

My contention or objection is based solely on the number of people who have responded to this thread and have documented their problems getting this so-called FREE software. It really IS FREE, but from a different source.

Comparable software, also from Acronis is available absolutely, 100% FREE and can be downloaded from either Seagate in their "Sea Tools" package or from Maxtor in their most excellent "MaxBlast" package.
This software also comes FREE on the CD's included with either of these two brands of hard drives.

Whether or not I use unlicensed software is really none of yours or anyone's business. In fact I did get Ghost 2003 for FREE, on a drivers disk for a new mobo I bought years ago. It required NO license, no keys and NO registration.

These posts will last as long as the LG forums survive, so lets keep it clean, helpful and friendly. OK?

Cheers Mates!
