| Quote: |
“For more than a decade, ACORN members have held protests, released reports, and advocated for regulations to protect homeowners from predatory lenders. ACORN organizers and volunteers have been working day and night to help victims of the GOP economic meltdown to save their homes from foreclosure. In fact, ACORN has brought class action lawsuits against several predatory lenders, and has lobbied the Federal Reserve and Congress in support of regulations against predatory lending. ACORN has even been successful in convincing many lenders to treat homeowners more fairly and help families be able to make their mortgage payments and save their homes.”
“Unfortunately, the Bush administration and Congressional Republicans like John McCain have blocked the sensible regulations that ACORN and others proposed that would have averted the mortgage meltdown. If John McCain thinks that community organizers caused the foreclosure crisis, he knows even less about the economy than previously thought.”
”John McCain and the Republicans are desperately trying to shift the blame for the economic crisis they caused with a philosophy of deregulation and indifference to homeowners. All the grainy footage and creepy music in the world can't cancel out some simple, basic facts, and the facts about the economy are not on John McCain's side.” |
Palin/McCain, desperate again..

| Nice try on their part, but they are the ones lying.
By the way, thanks for proving they're working to get Obama elected.

That is your assertion...
because you say that, does not make it a fact.

Perhaps you were reading something else
and got it mixed up with the ACORN response.
Cause that is not there.

ACORN's response does not make McCain a liar. ACORN is lying - deregulation did not cause the problem, that's been proven already. It's what ACORN was encouraging that caused the problem - forcing banks to lend to people who couldn't afford the houses.
And their attempt to blame everything on Bush, McCain, and Republicans, despite proof that Democrats blocked reform that Bush and McCain both tried to push to prevent this, just proves once again that ACORN is working for Democrats like Obama. |

ACORN and poor people are not what caused this mess. There is plenty of blame to go around from Congress, the White House, the banks, lending companies, and ultimately the individual. If you're making $40K a year what makes you think you can afford a house that cost $350K, and then add on a $35K SUV to boot? Just because the bank says they'll loan you that money doesn't mean you should take it. People trying to get rich flipping houses, taking out interest only loans on 2 or 3 houses hoping they will sell them before the payment comes due. The hope of earning a quick buck and easy money is what drove this train over the cliff.
There is no way that one portion of all involved is powerful enough to have caused this crisis. As I read in the economist the other day: the current meltdown was built from layered irresponsibility. |

I did not say that ACORN caused the problem, Sgt. Schultz. I said it was what they were encouraging that caused the problem. ACORN lobbied heavily for banks to give the loans that you're saying were the problem. Banks are not stupid - they wouldn't give out those crappy loans unless they were forced to, and they were.
So I'll repeat - ACORN did not cause the problem. They did encourage the cause of the problem. Congress, ultimately, caused the problem.
My issue with this "reply" by ACORN is the assertion by Ken that McCain is lying simply because ACORN says he is, when in fact ACORN is lying when they try to say, as Ken highlighted, that Bush, McCain, and the Republicans caused this problem all by themselves, and that ACORN not only didn't even encourage the root of the problem, they allege that they tried to prevent it. ACORN's claim is demonstrably 100% false, and 100% partisan, and 100% an ad for Obama. |

| I can remember buying my house 15 years ago. They pre-approved us and told us we could affored twice as much as we ultimatly borrowed. Banks have been trying to stuff huge loans down the throats of people that can't afford them forever. This isn't new. I would not have been able to afford the payments on what the bank was trying to give us even though they said we could. I had an adjustable rate. Five years later, i would have been struggling to make the payments. Nobody was going to jump in to bail me out. |

No one's bailing me out, either. I bought my house in 2005 - right at the peak of the housing bubble. The bank offered me way more than I could afford. I instead picked a house that I could afford, even though it doesn't meet my families needs. Now it's worth 20% less than I paid for it - where's my bailout?
Anyway, back on the topic, it still isn't solely the fault of Bush, McCain, and the Republicans. ACORN lied in the "defense" Ken quoted, not McCain. |

| Ken, again, flame bait someone else. This was discussed in the other ACORN threads many times. If you want to be a jerk, though, have fun, keep up the good work. |

Well it should not be to hard to find a source then ?
Of course if there is no source,
I can understand that you would prefer to say I was flame baiting.
