Picked up a surplus HP D530 CMT P4 2.8Gh ... pretty standard business desktop. Worked with it for some time. Then out of nowhere, "512 chassis fan not detected" appears as a system error upon boot up. The further instructions say to Press F1 to continue. I do, the machine boots, and everything is normal. But it's a pain in the rear to do this every time I boot !
There was no chassis fan in the machine when I bought it, and it ran normal and fine for several months. Afterwards, when not making any headway otherwise, I installed a chassis fan using the nearest motherboard power pins... no dice. I hooked the fan to another set of power pins ... no dice.
I've checked the BIOS and find nothing that might relate to a fan.
Ideas ?? Help ... !!
Thanks in advance !
