I'm not sure if this offer is still good, but it looks like it is. I could only find reference to it for Sept 6 and no mention of how long it lasts.
Version 6 is due out fairly soon. Within a few months, I think. So take advantage of this offer and give it a try. See if you like it. I used Linspire when it first came out as Lindows in 2003. As a newbie I didn't do so well. But I've been trying other distros and now that I'm a little more familiar with Linux, I can tell you the newer versions are very much improved. I don't know about this offer specifically, but I think it should also run as a LiveCD for testing it out. I could be wrong though.
Actually, I'm waiting now for the new Freespire 1.1 to be released. I've tried a couple of the betas. It's based on Linspire and in the future it will be used for further development of Linspire. The Linspire forum organization is shutting down their testers and it will be done through Freespire.
Freespire is leaner than Linspire but fully functional with basic apps to start with. Freespire is free. Other programs can also be installed through CNR or apt get. So you might also want to check out.

Edit: maybe I should have put this in Bargains. Mods, please move if you want to.
